David J. Holland, 67, of 415 16th St. Marion, died Thursday night in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness.
Born Sept. 19, 1919 at Halfa, he married Twila Plummber[sic] on May 10, 1943, at Kansas City, Kan. Mr. Holland was employed for 30 years with Cedar Rapids Community Schools as a painter and glazier. He was a World War II army veteran, serving with the Army Signal Corps, and was a member of Armstrong Presbyterian Church at Armstrong, American Legion Post 298, and VFW.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, David of Orlando, Fla., and Douglas of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Roberta Plare[sic] of Alburnett; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday, Baxter Memorial Chapel, Marion, by the Rev. Donald Caspers. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, with military rites by American Legion Post 298. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday at the chapel. The casket will be closed prior to the service and not reopened. A memorial fund has been established.
