William Evans Died Suddenly
William P. Evans, a Marion resident for the past 19 years, passed away suddenly on Monday afternoon at this home 938 8th st., Marion.
The son of William W. and Mary Lyda Evans he was born September 7, 1896, at Atlanta, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was married Jan. 12, 1931, at Des Moines to Bessie E. Smith. Mr. Evans was a painting contractor and moved to Marion from Illinois.
Mr. Evans was a member of the Methodist church in Missouri and of Marion Post No. 298, American Legion. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Homer (Marcile) Darland, Wheat Ridge, Colorado, and Mrs. Don (Virginia) Hartman, Redwood City, California, five grandchildren and a brother, Glenn D. Evans, Jefferson City, Missouri.
Memorial services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 28th at the Murdoch Chapel, Marion by the Rev. Ralph E. Baker, pastor of the First Methodist church. Military services will be conducted at the graveside in Oak Shade cemetery by Marion Post No. 298, American Legion.
