George M. Hibner
Mr. Hibner former druggist and cigar store proprietor, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday at his home at 1725 Eighth avenue, following an illness of some five years duration, which became serious about Jan. 1 of this year.
He was born April 7, 1863, at Aurora, Ill., the son of Charles and Katherine Hibner. When still a child he moved with his parents to a farm near Iowa Falls and then a few years later went to work in a drug store in Iowa Falls where he worked for a number of years and later passed the state board examinations in pharmacy. He came to Marion in March, 1888 and with L.M. Lillis bought the Ben Nott drug store, a business which he followed for approximately 25. On leaving the drugstore he went into the cigar business and until a year ago was engaged in that line of work. Poor health forced him to retire at that time.
He was married on March 14, 1887, to Margaret Byrd Tucker, who with his two sons, Charles T. of Midland, Mich., and Robert T. of Chicago survive. He is also survived by two brothers, John and Charles of Los Angeles, one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Coenhaver, of Osakis, Minn., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters.
Funeral services are to be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Congregational church with the Rev. James Alcock officiating.
