Mrs. Byrd Hibner Dies Wednesday
Mrs. M. Byrd Hibner, 81, a resident of Marion for nearly sixty years, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 30, at her home 1790 Park avenue, after a long illness.
Mrs. Hibner was born May 26, 1866 at Carthage, Mo., the daughter of Isaac M. and Virginia Griffith Tucker. Her childhood was spent in Springfield, Mo. when[sic] she was 16, the family moved to Iowa Falls where she studied music at the conservatory. She was married to George M. Hibner in 1888 and in 1880[sic], they moved to Marion. Mr. Hibner died in July, 1931.
She was a member of the Congregational church and served as church clerk for many years. She was active in Red Cross work and was a charter member of the Entre Nous club.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday from the Yocom Funeral home with the Rev. E.J. Wykle in charge. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Titus Hibner, Washington, D.C., and Charles Tucker Hibner, Milwaukee; and two sisters, Mrs. Louise Isaacs, Britt, Iowa, and Dr. Anita Houseman, Portland, Ore.
A sister, Mrs. Anna Williams, widow of a former publisher of the Marion Sentinel, died in February, 1937 at Denver, Colo.
