Life-Long Resident Of This Community Died Thursday Nite

Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 p.m., from the Yocom chapel for Mrs. Mary E. Adams, who passed away at her home five miles northwest of Mar-had been ill for about eight weeks [as written].
Mrs. Adams, who was 64 years of age and well-known here, had been a life-long resident of this community. She was born Dec. 20, 1869, two miles from her present home. She was the daughter of Jackson and Carrie Gilmore. After the death of her parents she helped rear her younger brothers and sisters. She was married Feb. 20, 1896, to Orlando N. Adams and to them were born four children: Caroline, who died in infancy, John Carleton of Alburnett and Charles Orlando, at home. Mr. Adams died May 26, 1925.
In her youth Mrs. Adams joined the Wesley Chapel Methodist church, later transferring her membership to the Presbyterian church in Marion. She was a charter member of the Dry Creek Agriculture and Literary club and the Woman's Progressive club.
Besides her three children she is survived by three grandchildren, Edward and Evelyn Adams and Joanne Aker; one brother, Elbert J. Gilmore; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Snyder and Orel C. Gilmore, all of Marion. One brother, George A. Gilmore, died in 1929.
Funeral services were conducted from the Yocom chapel Saturday afternoon by the Rev. W.E. Fisher. Mrs. Albert Bragg, accompanied by Mrs. Irvin L. Ford, sang "Going Down the Valley" and "Rock of Ages". The pallbearers were J.A. Wilson, C.Q. MIller, Gene Frazee, Frank Stevenson, Ernest Br?lham and Hubert Blackford. Burial was in the family lot in Oak Shade cemetery.
