Last Rites Thursday For Mrs. Massingale
Mrs. Hiram S. Massingale, 82, of 777 Third avenue, Marion, died Monday at 9:15 a.m. in a Cedar Rapids hospital after a long illness.
Born Ella Rebecca Spicer Sept. 4, 1868, near Covington, she was a lifelong resident of Linn county. She had lived in Marion since 1912. She was a member of the Marion Free Methodist church, the Women's Missionary Society and the Marion W.C.T.U.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Mrs. C.E. Barkwill of Marion and Mrs. Clarissa Griffith of Roanoke, Ind.; three grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Clara Duffield, of Central City.
Services will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Free Methodist church by the Rev. J.P. Knepper, assisted by the Rev. C.M. Cuningham. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the Yocom-Murdoch chapel until 11 a.m. Thursday.
