G. Henry White, Resident Here 65 Years, Died Friday

Granville Henry White, son of Jacob and Cynthia Peck White, was born Nov. 2, 1851 at South Rehobeth[sic] Mass., the youngest of five sons, Lloyd, George, Arthur, Charles and Henry. He was the last surviving member and died from a heart attack at his home, Friday July 10, at 7:30 in the evening. as he rested in the yard at his home, 313 Sixth avenue, where he had lived sixty-two years.
Mr. White was only three years of age when his parents came west and settled on a farm near Calamus. His father died when he was seven years of age. While still a very young man he came to Marion and learned the carpenter's trade from his oldest brother, Lloyd, who was an architect. For several years, three of the five brothers, Lloyd, George and Henry, worked together. Later he entered the railroad service in the maintnance[sic] of way department, with the Milwaukee railroad, and for over 50 years maintained his connection with the road, retiring ten years ago because of an injury.
Mr. White was married to Lottie J. Lovell Dec. 25, 1873, at Dixon, Ill. Mrs. White died August 15, 1930 and Mr. White had been in failing health since that time.
Their three children, Mrs. Geo. Busby and Ernest R. White of Marion and William H. White, who lives in Canada, survive. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Marion Busby and Lucille Barber. Mr. White, who had been a Marion resident for over sixty-five years, was 84 years of age.
Out-of-town people here for the services included Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Hambrecht, Miss Donna Mae Hambrecht and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Boldt of Iowa City.
