Services Held Saturday For Traffic Victim
Roy Glenn Travis, a former Marion resident, was killed at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, when struck by an auto while crossing highway 218 near his home in Shueyville.
He was born August 16, 1886 at Marion the son of Hiram and Rachel Harkness Travis. He was married December 4, 1934 at Anamosa to Della Mae Bowen and they made their home in Marion and Cedar Rapids until they moved to Shueyville two years ago when he retired from Wilson & Co.
He was a member of the Methodist church. Surviving in addition to his wife are three sisters: Mrs. Jennie Currier, Center Point; Mrs. Kate Penn, DeWitt; and Mrs. Susie Dithridge, El Monte, Cal.
Memorial services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Murdoch chapel by the Rev. James P. Gable. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
