Ezekiel Bowen, 91, Died Sunday; Long Resident of Marion
The long life of Ezekiel Bowen came to its close Sunday at one o'clock p.m. at his home, 1755 Eighth avenue, where he had resided since retiring from his farm in 1920. He was born in Caleb county, West Virginia, January 18, 1849, the son of William and Adelaide Templeton Bowen, and moved from Illinois in 1905 to a farm six miles northeast of Marion, where he lived until he came to town. He was married in October, 1878, at Akron, Ohio, to Melissa Jane Michael, who died in Marion June 29, 1926. Surviving among the seven children born to this union are Mrs. Grace Lange, Springville, Robert Earl Bowen, of Marion, Mrs. Mabell Stewart of Springville, Mrs. Della Travis and Mrs. Olive Morgan. Another daughter, Emma, died at the age of nine and a son in infancy. There are also seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, Allen Bowen, of Grand Junction, Colo.
Funeral services were conducted from the Yocom chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by the Rev. Clyde Scott, and burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery, the body being borne to its last resting place by grandsons of the deceased.
