Obituary for Kenneth Clayton Quillin

Ken Quillin, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Manor Care, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4-7 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4150 Blue Jay Drive NE, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Burial with Military Rites: Czech National Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his father, Glenn Quillin of Carlsbad, California; his wife, Sheryl Quillin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; children: Steve Quillin of Littleton, Colorado, Kevin (Stacey) Pidima of Cedar Rapids, David (Kelly) Quillin of East Moline, Illinois, Pam (Steve) Carton of Moline, Illinois, Mark (Queta) Quillin of Roseville, California, Dyanna (Scott) Davidson of Cedar Rapids and Paul Quillin of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren: Bleu, Lauren, Shawn, Shane, Ashley, Danielle, Jamie, Barbie, Victor, Susie, Ernie, Ashley, Alex, Maddie, Grace and Grant; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; siblings, Ron Quillin of Moline, Carolyn (Tom) McIntire of East Moline and Roxane (Dave) Smith of San Pedro, California; and sister-in-law, Karen Dlask.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edythe Lloyd; step-mother, Signa Quillin; grandson, Cory Murphy; and sister-in-law, Sandy Quillin.

Ken was born at a very early age on February 19, 1938, in Moline, Illinois, son of Glenn and Edythe (Vertrees) Quillin. In 1956, he graduated from United Township High School, East Moline. Ken served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to1962. On April 14, 1966, Ken and Sheryl (Dlask) were united in marriage in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in the Bishopric. Ken was in the grocery business his entire life until he retired lastly from Randall Foods after 28 years. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Ken loved to travel, read, family get-togethers and he was known for his kindness and dry sense of humor.
