Charles H. Grandle Dies; Funeral Monday
Charles H. Grandle, 76, who resided with his sister, Mrs. Harry J. Murphey, 1401 Eleventh street, Marion, died at 3 p.m. Friday in a Cedar Rapids hospital. He was ill for several weeks.
Born April 29, 1873, five miles east of Marion in the Crabapple neighborhood he was the son of Harvey and Susan Stern[sic] Grandle. In 1900 he moved to South Dakota. He returned to Marion in 1925. He was unmarried.
Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Murphey, are three other sisters; Mrs. Pearl Crowley, Rapid City, S.D., Mrs. Maude Secrist, Franklin Park, Ill., and Mrs. Emma Sallach, Cedar Rapids; and a brother Guy Grandle, Pierre, S.D.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the Yocom-Murdoch chapel by the Rev. James P. Gable. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
