Mrs. Frances Ellen Bingham died at 5 p.m. Thursday after a brief illness. She came to Cedar Rapids six years ago from Anamosa and since then had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. George Magee, 808 Eighth street SW, where she died.
As Frances Ellen Hewitt she was born Jan. 16, 1853, at Pittsburgh, Pa., and came to Linn county with her parents when she was 11 years old. Before her marriage on July 3, 1870, to Mathias Bingham, she taught school at Viola and at Hoosier Bend in Linn county. Her husband and two daughters preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Addie Doyle and Mrs. Magee, both of Cedar Rapids; a foster son, Joe Bingham of Walker; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Moen chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. William O. Ecklor of the Trinity Methodist church. Burial will be in Wilcox cemetery at Viola. Friends may call at the chapel.
