Marjorie King, 69, of 525 S. 11th St. Marion, died Friday in St. Luke's Hospital after a lingering illness. Memorial service: 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Clark Vincent will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service.

She was born in Ringsted Aug. 17, 1923, the daughter of Nels G. and Thora Johnson Christiansen. She received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Drank University in 1944 and married William H. King at Des Moines May 7, 1944.
During and after college she was heard frequently as a singer on radio station WHO, Des Moines.
Mrs. King had been a resident of the Cedar Rapids-Marion community since 1959. She taught elementary music in the Springville Community School system for 20 years and was director of music at First Presbyterian Church, Marion, for 30 years. She was also a member and an elder of the church.
She was a member of the Mu Phi Epsilon music sorority, Beethoven Club and the Marion Theristriari Club. She served on the Cedar Rapid Community Concerts board of directors and on the board of the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale.

The body has been cremated. Interment will be in Ringsted.
