Services For Mrs. Lura Fowler Held Tuesday
Mrs. Lura Fowler, widow of David Fowler, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 at her home 1052 Fourth st. following a long illness.
She was born March 12, 1877 at Croswell, Mich. the daughter of Henry and Ellen Wixson Locke and moved to Marion with them as a small girl. She was educated in the Marion schools and was married to Mr. Fowler in 1897 at Marion. Mr. Fowler passed away at Marion in 1902. Mrs. Fowler was employed at the Killian Company until she had to retire 13 years ago due to her health.
Mrs. Fowler was a member of the Marion Baptist church and of Lodge No. 4 Degree of Honor.
Surviving is a son, Roaldn Fowler, of Marion. Also surviving are two granddaguthers, Mrs. Betty Stark, Oxnard, Calif., and Mrs Bonnie Johnson of Marion, four great grandchildren and two sisters: Mrs. Ella Grant, Palos Verdes Estates, Calif. and Mrs. Irene Schultz Park Ridge, Ill.
Memorial services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Murdoch Chapel by the Rev. Charles Moore. Interment was in the family lot in Oak Shade cemetery.
