Christina M. Grote, 92, of 136 18th Street, and a resident of Marion for the past {?} years, passed away in a Marion Nursing Home at 6{??} a.m., Thursday, March 18, 1971. She was born the daughter of J[??] and Ann Lafrenz Jordt on May 23, in H?? Germany. She came to the United States as a child and lived in the Keystone area until moving to Marion in ??. On Dec. 3, 1900 at Elberon, Ia., she was married to John A Grote, who passed away Feb. 26, 1966. Mrs. Grote was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marion, a 50 Year Member of Chapter 183, O.E.S., and a member of the Milwaukee Railroad Womens Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Ms. Benita Smith of Marion, one granddaughter; four great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Lizzie {can't read] of Remsen, Ia.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 21, at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion with the Rev. Jean P. Hunter officiating. Interment was in Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
