Frank R. Carver, 89, Died Saturday At Rapids Hospital
Frank R. Carver of 1092 Third street, truly a Marion pioneer, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 1946 at a Cedar Rapids hospital at the age of 89 years.
He was born December 24, 1856 at Iowa City, the son of Henry E. and Katherine Glascock Carver, and came to Marion at the age of eight years and followed the carpenter's trade. He was married in Marion July 17, 1886 to Mary Elizabeth Bowman, who survives, together with a daughter, Mary F. Limpus of Marion and an adopted son, LeRoye E. Carver of Houston, Texas. A son, Harold L. Carver, died at Rock Island, October 18, 1938; two grandchildren, LeRoy E. Carver jr., and Joan Yvonne Carver both of Cedar Rapids.
The deceased was a member of the Church of God.
Funeral services were conducted from the Yocom chapel in Marion Tuesday morning at 10:30 o'clock in charge of Elder W.W. McMicken, of the Church of God, and Rev. Frank H. Ward of the Sunshine Mission.
The bearers were George VanHorn, Harry Ford, M.H. Endecott and Lester Cleveland.
Burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
