Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Evangelical church in Alburnett for James S. Anderson of Cedar Rapids in charge of Rev. O.C. Gatrell of Cedar Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. D.R. McCreery, J.E. Haehlen and Mrs. Frank Schantz sang "It is Well with My Soul" and "The Vacant Choir." Burial was made in the LaFayette cemetery. Mr. Anderson, 79, died at his home in Cedar Rapids Tuesday following a brief illness. He was born in a log cabin, a member of a pioneer family who were among the early settlers in Johnson county. He homesteaded Big Springs, Nebr., for a number of years and then returned to Johnson county. He was married to Anna M. Weislogel on Feb. 21, '93. To this union were born 3 children , Samuel Earl who died in infancy, Hazel Fae of Cedar Rapids and William J. of Alburnett. In 1903 he moved with his family to Alburnett where he lived until 1927 when he and his wife retired from the farm to their home in Cedar Rapids.
Mr. Anderson was the only survivor of his immediate family all his brothers and sisters having preceded him in death. He was a member of the Evangelical church.
