Services Wednesday For Former Resident
Ralph S. Richardson, 41, a resident of Marion until 1946, died in St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids Sunday at 5:25 p.m., after a long illness.
Born Oct. 29, 1906, at Excelsior Springs, Mo., to John and Martha Hontz Richardson, he came to Marion in 1934 and lived here until he moved to Cedar Rapids two years ago.
On Jan. 27, 1940, he married Gretta J. Clemans. At the time of his death he was a foreman at the LaPlant-Choate company where he had worked for the past 14 years.
Services were held at the Yocom chapel on Wednesday afternoon with the Rev. J. Arthur Young, pastor of the Kenwood Park Methodist chuch, and the Rev. James P. Gable of Marion, officiating. Mrs. Elvic Peterson was soloist at the services.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Renee Ann, at home, and three step daughters: Mrs. Ruth Hoglund, Mrs. Lois Jeffries and Mrs. Milda Baker, all of Cedar Rapids.
Other survivors are two brothers: Walter of Kansas City, Mo., and John of Merriam, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Anna Carpenter of Excelsior Springs, Mo.
Burial was in Oak Shade cemetery. Pallbearers were Fred Henak and Willis Steele of Marion, Robert Bender and Marion Allen of Cedar Rapids, Robert See of Silvis, Ill., and Gene Warinner of Excelsior Springs.
