Mrs. Alice Walkup, wife of Perry Walkup, residing five miels northeast of Marion, died Monday noon at a Cedar Rapids hospital following a long illness. She was born at Costa, Iowa, Jan. 13, 1895, and was married in 1918, and is survivied by her husband, their son Gerald Arthur, and by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baker of Marion. She leaves two sisters, Mrs. Donald Harlan of St. Louis, and Mrs. L.J. Buescher, of Ft. Madisson, and a brother, Merle Baker of Ames. She was active in her community service, a good neighbor and homemaker. She belonged to the Methodist church, whose minister, Rev. E. T. Gough, conducted the funeral services at the Yocom chapel in Marion Wednesday afternoon.
