Funeral services were held this afternoon for Mrs. Richard Martin at the Yocom Funeral home, with the Rev. S.S. Smith in charge. Burial was in the family lot at Oak Shade. Mrs. Martin died at the age of 65 at her home three miles south of Marion early Sunday morning, following an illness of a year. As Mary Ann Hinson she was born in Cambridgeshire, England, Jan. 18, 1863. She was married to Richard Martin at Swaffam Prior, England, in 1879, and they cam to the United States in the fall of 1881 to make their home in Linn county. Five children were born to this union. Besides her husband, she is survived by four children: Bert Martin of Independence; Albert Martin, Maude Martin Hartford, Ivy Martin Van Fossen, all of Marion and eighteen grandchildren. Mrs. Martin will be remembered by her many friends as a woman of strong character, always willing to help others.
