George E. Starks, 78, Fifty-Year Resident Died
George E. Starks, 78, of 1060 Second ave., Marion, died at 9:05 a.m. Thursday, April 11, in a Cedar Rapids hospital.
He was born the son of Charles and Mary Neal Starks on December 23, 1884 at Tilden, Neb. On September 3, 1914 at Marion he was married to Cora Isabell Miller.
Mr. Starks was a Marion resident for the past fifty years. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad for forty-five years retiring about twelve years ago. He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Marion; Osceola Lodge No. 18, I.O.O.F. and a member of the National Assoc.. of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees.
Surviving in additioin to his wife; are a son, Gene Stark of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren, Mrs. Gene (Joan) Spicer, Beverly Sue Stark, Shirley Ann Stark and Gene Gary Stark; three great-grandchildren and a brother, Dell Starks of Waubeek. Preceding him in death were two brother, Ralph and Henry and four sisters, Emma Hoover, Sara Strait, Etta Kruger and Margaret Munier.
Services were 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion conducte by Rev. Ralph E. Baker. Burial in Oak Shade Cemetery.
