H. Jay Pinch, 39, president of the First National Bank of Oelwein, died early Saturday after a long illness.
He became president of the bank in 1969. He formerly was associated with the Golden State Bank, Golden, Colo., and the bank in Churdan.
Born July 6, 1934, in Marion, he attended Marion high school and graduated in 1952. He was graduated from Coe college in Cedar Rapids in 1956.
He was a member of the board of trustees at Upper Iowa college; affiliated with the Oelwein Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Oelwein Industrial Development Corp., Lions club, Rotary club and the Elks club.
Surviving are a daughter, Lauri of Brighton, Colo., a sister, Shirley Repath of LaCanada, Calif.; his father, Harry Pinch of Huntington Beach, Calif. and is[sic] grandmother, Mable Pinch of Marion.
Services were held Monday at 10 at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Oelwein. Scripture service was held Sundat at 8 at Brand't. BUrial was in Oak Shade cemetery in Marion where committal services were held at 12:30 Monday. Friends may if they wish contribute to the Cancer Research Society.
