Richard O. "Jack" Pinch, 79, of 900 Central Ave., Marion, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at a Cedar Rapids hospital, following a long illness. He was born the son of Thomas and Mary Lafferty Pinch on May 16, 1886 at Reinbeck, Ia. He was married Sept. 7, 1909 at Marion to Mabel Knapp. Mr. Pinch has been a resident of Marion for nearly 50 years and was employed by the Railway Express and later worked as an interior decorator. He was affiliated with the Congregational chuch in Reinbeck.
Surviving are his wife; four sons, Leo of Alambra, Calif., Harry of Monrovia, Calif., Richard of Pasadena, Calif., and Roy Pinch of Cedar Rapids; three daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Bessie) Nielsen and Mrs. Max (Edith) Davis, both of Marion, and Mrs. Bruce (Ruth) Tharp of Springville; a sister, Mrs. Tom (Mae) Hennis of Carolton, Ohio; 22 grandhcildren and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son Ralph Melvin Pinch.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 6 at 1:30 p.m. in the Murdoch Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Mary White of Bethany Congregational church of Cedar Rapids. Interment was in Oak Shade Cemetery.
