Iva May Scott, 80, of Route #2, Cedar Rapids, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, in a Cedar Rapids hospital. She was born the daughter of Orville and Rachel Cory Berry on July 26, 1890 near Marion. On Jan. 1, 1912, at Marion, she was married to Jesse Y. Scott, who passed away Dec. 16, 1963. She as a lifelong resident of Linn County. Mr. and Mrs. Scott farmed in the rural Marion area until moving to the Cedar Rapids area 25 years ago. She was a member of the Union United Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Marvin (Jane) Topinka of Fairfax; a grandson, John W. Scott of Cedar Rapids who made his home with his grandparents; six brothers, Clinton Berry and Karl Berry of Marion, Kyle Berry of Fremont, Calif., Lyel Berry of San Leandro, Calif., Donald Berry of San Jose, Calif., Ralph Berry of Modesto, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Frank (Bernice) Darby of Castro Valley, Calif., and Fay Burnett of Oakland, Calif. She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Dale Scott; and a brother, DeWitt Berry.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion. Conducted by: Rev. Clifford Carter. Interment: Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion, Iowa.
