Maude M. Cory, 91, Dies; Rites Monday
Maude M. Cory, 91, of 462 Seventh avenue, died Thursday in a Cedar Rapids hospital.
Born the daughter of John and Josephine Hensley Duncan Dec. 23, 1879, at Bertram, she was married to John A. Cory on Sept. 16, 1900, at Mt. Vernon. Mrs. Cory was a lifelong resident of the Marion areas and has lived in Marion since 1925. She was a member of the First Baptist church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. John Hackert of Marion and Mrs. Clayton Spooner of Orange, Calif.; five grandchildren, Robert Hackert, Margie Davin and Linda Touro of Marion, Don Spooner of Orange, Calif., and John Cory of Chicago; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; and a brother, Fred Duncan of Marion.
Services: Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Murdoch chapel in Marion conducted by the Rev. Lawrence Sprankle. Burial: Oak Shade cemetery in Marion. Friends may call at the chapel after 5 p.m. Saturday.
