Edwin A. Sloan, 73, of 1918 Bever avenue SE, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died Monday in the Marshalltown soldiers home following a long illness. He was powerhouse maintenance man at Wilson and Co. for 43 years before his retirement. Born in Cedar Rapids Oct. 30, 1897, he was married to Elizabeth Kershner July 13, 1935, in the Little Brown Church in the Vale at Nashua.
His wife is the only survivor.
Mr. Sloan was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist church, Crescent lodge, AF and AM, Ambar Grotto, American Legion, Mexican Border Patrol and World war I chapters, and the Retired United Packinghouse Workers.
Services: Beatty-Beurle chapel at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. Arnold Herbst. Interment: Oak Shade cemetery, Marion. Friends may call at Beatty-Beurle's after 7 p.m. Tuesday.
