O. Dean Beckley, 58, resident of the Marion area the past 40 years, died April 1, at his home, following lengthy illness.
He was born the son of Orval and Marvel (Glantz) Beckly on Oct. 19, 1929, near South English, Iowa.
On Aug. 11, 1950, he married Mary Neiland, who died Aug. 11, 1984.
He married Ruth Marie Iben on Nov. 22, 1986, at Marion.
Mr. Beckley served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a building contractor.
He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 2272; Marion Post No. 298, American LEgion; and was past president of Marion Home Builders Association.
Surviving in addition to hiw wife, Ruth, are two daughters, Sharon Skeesick of Cedar Rapids, and JoAnn Belanger of Malden, Mass.; a son, Dennis Beckley of Iowa City; a stepson, Sgt. Allan Broussard, U.S.A.F., Offitt Air Force Base, Omaha; two brothers, Daryl of South English, and RIchard of Iowa City; a sister, Betty Balsley of Plainfield, Iowa; and five grandchildren.
Services were held April 4, at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion with the Rev. Thomas Hedtke of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Marion, officiating.
Burial at Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.
