Stephenson Rites Held Tuesday
Adlai B. Stephenson, a lifelong Linn county resident, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, June 11, in a Cedar Rapids hospital.
He was born the son of James and Harriet Strawn Stephenson on March 15, 1893, at Lafayette. On October 18, 1916, he was married to Myrtle Notbohm at Lafayette. The Stephensons resided for many years near the Lafayette community until moving in 1944 to the Marion vicinity, where Mr. Stephenson was farm manager for the Gordon Hatchery. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Marion.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Robert of Scotch Grove and Charles of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. George (Charlotte) Machacek of Marion; 7 grandchildren and 2 brothers, Ira and Spencer Stephenson of Center Point. Preceding him in death were three brothers, Chase, Clyde and James Stephenson.
Services were 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the First Presbyterian church of Marion, conducted by Rev. Jean P. Hauter. Interment was in Cedar Memorial Park.
