Joseph Edward Power, 73, of 2222 First Ave. NE, died Monday at a local hospital following a long illness.
Formerly of Burlington and Peoria, Ill., he had been a Cedar Rapids resident 19 years. Born July 5, 1905, at Griggsville, Ill., he was married to Margaret Birkett on May 12, 1934, at Washington, Ill. He was employed by Klein's Clothing Store in Peoria and Burlington, and for 19 years was vice president and merchandise manager at Armstrong's.
Mr. Power was a member of the First Congregational Church; Kiwanis Club; and the Retired Men's Golf Association.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Edward Power, Des Moines; and three grandchildren.
Services: 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Rev. Glenn N. Bender of the First Congregational Church. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home today and at the Chapel of Memories after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Friends may, if they wish, donate to Camp Courage. The casket will be closed prior to the service.
