Obituary of Edith Southern.
Edith Pearl Southern daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Southern born Aug. 25, 1888 at Monterey, Ia., died at Mercy hospital Cedar Rapids, Ia., Feb. 12, 1920 being 31 years, 5 months, 18 days old. She was married Jan. 23, 1907 to Xell [sic] W. Bain. Two children were born to this union, Wendell age 11 years, and Wayne age 9 years. She leaves to mourn her death her husband, two sons, father and mother, one sister Mrs. Lizzie Harris of West Grove, Ia., and five brothers, Oscar of Corlett, Mont., Harry, Jacksonville, Mo., Jerry of West Grove, Lloyd, Ft. Sheridan, Ill., and Paul at home, and two grandmothers all being present at funeral except Oscar and Lizzie which were absent account of illness, and one grandmother. Locey [sic] Pearl united with the Christian church of West Grove in 1902. She removed to Macon, Mo., in 1912 where her membership still remains. She lived a faithful Christian life. She died after week's illness of pneumonia. She was a faithful wife and loving mother. She was laid to rest in West Grove cemetery Sunday, Feb. 15 at 4 p.m.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice that we love is still,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
