George E. Michel, 86, of Cherokee, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 1995, in Hilltop Care Center, Cherokee, after a long illness...Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion...
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Helen; and a son, Kenneth.
Born the son of Charles and Ella Crosley Michel on Nov. 17, 1908, in Marion, he married Helen Grant on July 8, 1928, in Milton, Wis. She died Jan. 29, 1989. George attended Milton College in Milton, Wis., and farmed in the Marion area for more than 40 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Marion, where he served as a deacon; a 50-year member and past master of Trojan Lodge No. 548 AF & AM, and a member of Marion Chapter No. 183 OES, Cedar Rapids Consistory and El Kahir Shrine. He served on the county school board and was a county supervisor, a deputy county recorder and a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital....
