Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette May 7, 1919
Vencentia Senkir was born in Rovencin, Moravia, Austria, on July 9, 1849. She lived there for twenty-seven years and then came to the United States and to Cedar Rapids. Here she was at once united in marriage with Vincent Sutera and they established the home on a farm near Linn Junction. This was their home until March of this year when they moved to a farm near Edgewood, Iowa. In a short tmie Mrs. Sutera was taken ill and two weeks of illness resutlted in her death on May 4, being 69 years, nine months, and 25 days. She leaves to mourn for her, her husband who is making his home with his son near Edgewood, Iowa, two sons, David R. of Heron, S.D., and Joseph A. of Greeley, Iowa; and three grand children. The funeral services were held from the home on Tuesday afternoon, and were conducted byt the Rev. S.C. Bretnall, pastor of the Methodist Church in Edgewood. The body was laid in the Edgewood cemetery. Mrs. Sutera was a Christian woman. In her early life she became a member of the Evangelical Reformed church of Bohemia and retained her membership in that church, never joining any church in America, but her faith in Jesus Christ was clear to the end. Thus has passed from earth to the better land a good mother, a faithful wife who did her best to train her children in the way of righteousness and the bereaved family have the sympathy not only of the friends among whom they lived so long a time, but also of those who had come to know them in the new home in Delaware Coutny [sic].
