Cedar Rapids Republican Tuesday May 7, 1901

A heavy stroke of affliction was laid upon the family of Mr. and Mrs. John Robins, who formerly lived at Robins, but who for the past two weeks have been living in this city, in the death of their daughter Nannie, Sunday morning.
Some time ago Mr. and Mrs. Robins sold out their property at Robins and came to Cedar Rapids with the intention of making this their permanent residence. Their daughter Nannie, a loveable woman, 26 years of age, was the mainstay of the household, the mother suffering from a nervous ailment which largely incapacitated her from household duties. They were building a house in the Higley addition and while it was being prepared for them they were staying with Mr. and Mrs. Pletcher of Washington avenue, Mrs. Pletcher being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robins.
The new home had just reached completion and early last week the family went to Robins to pack their furniture for removal for this city. While there the daughter, Nannie, contracted a severe cold which rapidly developed into pneumonia and she died Sunday morning at 7:05. The grief of the parents, especially the afflicted mother, is poignant and the fullest sympathy of their large circle of friends is with them in this heavy affliction. Miss Nannie was a member of Miss Lockwood's Sunday school class at St. Paul's M.E. church and she was loved by both teacher and class mates for her sweetness of disposition and her rare Christian graces.
The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at Shiloh, the interment being in Shiloh cemetery. The two married sisters, Mrs. Hattied Baldwin of Missouri, and Mrs. Ella Roberts, who lives in the western part of the state, came in last evening. The services will be conducted by Elder Crippen and Rev. M.J. Locke, pastor of the Wesley chapel where Miss Robins was a much respected member.
