Alice Marie Bjella, 78, of 310 Fifth Ave. SE, wife of the late Mikal Bjella, died today at St. Luke's Hospital as a result of a fall in August.
She was born June 18, 1900, in Royse, Norway, and came to the United States in 1920. She was married to Mr. Bjella on July 30, 1922, in Minneapolis, where she made her home before moving to Cedar Rapids in 1967. Mrs. Bjella was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and of the Sons of Norway.
Surviving are two sons, Harold of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Leonard of Cedar Rapids; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Agnes Engebrelson and Rydun Gommes of Norway.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Larson. The body has been donated to the University of Iowa College of Medicine. Burial: Shiloh Cemetery. Beatty-Beurle Murdoch Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
