Services for S. Frank Mentzer
S. Frank Mentzer, who would have reached his eighty-ninth birthday on Friday, died Monday at 4:20 a.m. in an Iowa City hospital.
Born Aug. 10, 1867, Mr. Mentzer was married to May Ellen Certain at Marion on Dec. 4, 1893. They farmed for many years northwest of Marion.
Mrs. Mentzer died in 1948 at Hornell, N.Y., where they had made their home for about 25 years. Following her death, Mr. Mentzer returned to Marion. He was a member of the Seventh Day Church of God of Marion.
Surviving are a daughter: Mrs. Ellwood (Helen) Romsby of Almond, N.Y., a granddaguther; three great-grandchildren, and a brother, Dr. C.J. Mentzer of Cedar Falls.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Murdoch chapel. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
