Elson Snyder Martin, 77, formerly of 1307 Third Ave. SE, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday in Westerville, Ohio, where she was making her home with her daughter.
Born Nov. 5, 1900, in Delaware County, Iowa, she was married to Ralph F. Martin on May 29, 1919, in Oregon, Ill. She was employed at Killian's for 15 years and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Hanford Post Auxiliary and Izaak Walton Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Virginia Demorest, Westerville, Ohio, a brother, Howard Snyder, Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by the Rev. Lloyd E. Brockmeyer of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial: Oakshade [sic] Cemetery in Marion. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Sunday and at the chapel after noon Monday. The casket will be closed prior to the service. Friends may, if they wish, donate to the Cancer Fund. Arrangements by Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.
