The funeral of the late E.D. Butterfield was held Tuesday afternoon at the residence on North Thirteenth street and while it was very simple in accordance with his wishes, a large number of friends and business men of the city were in attendance. All of the business houses of the city closed from 2:30 until 3:30 in respect to his memory. Rev. J. J. J {can't read} of the Congregational church had charge of the services and was assisted by Rev J.W. Lee, Mesdames Sutherland and S.N. Parsons, and S.N. Parsons and Messrs. A.D. Hanson, and K.W. Kendall sang several beautiful quartet numbers. A prayer, a scripture reading and a brief eulogy of the deceased concluded the services. Messrs. R.F. Mentzer, C.H. Kurtz, H.E. Reiter, C.E. Gordon, P.? Clark, and G.W. Toms acted as pallbearers. The interment was in Oak Shade cemetery. The deceased was a member of the Masonic Odd Fellow and K. of P. orders, and was very prominent in the business affairs of the city.
