Former Marion Resident Dies In Chicago Monday
Word was received Monday morning of the passing of Mabel Mathews [sic] Oxley, 56, widow of Carl L. Oxley in Chicago following a long illness.
She was born October 24, 1897 at Chicago the daughter of John and Betty Mathews. She was married in October 1918 at Marion to Mr. Oxley and she lived here until she moved back to Chicago following his death in March 1928. She was employed by the Milwaukee Road until she retired two years ago.
Mrs. Oxley was a member of the First Congressional church of Chicago.
Surviving are two children: Carleton Oxley of Cedar Rapids and Mrs John (Betty) Atkinson of Chicago and six grandchildren.
Memorial services were to be held in Chicago and the cremated remains were to be brought to Marion for burial in Oak Shade cemetery.
