Mabelle C. Oxley, a lifelong Marion resident, passed away at 8:07 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, in a Cedar Rapids hospital following a four month illness.
She was born east of Marion on August 19, 1878, the daughter of Henry C. and Alice Ives Oxley. She was for many years an employee of the Morris Sanford Company. She was a member of the Marion Baptist church and the Marion Linn Chapter of D.A.R.
Surviving is a sister, Mrs. C. O. (Hazel) Gray of Cedar Rapids. A brother, Carl, preceded her in death. Also surviving are two nephews and two nieces, Carlton Oxley and William O. Gray of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Betty Atkinson of Chicago, and Mrs. Dorothy Rasmussen of Davenport. Carleton [sic] Oxley of Cedar Rapids was reared by Miss Oxley.
Services were conducted at 10:30 Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Murdoch chapel, Marion, by the Rev. Charles Moore. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
