Richard R. Sears, 78, of Guttenberg, formerly of Marion, died Friday in Lutheran Medical Center in Denver, Colo., following a sudden illness.
He was born Nov. 26, 1909, at Marion and married Lucille Nost Aug. 18, 1933, at Iowa City. For 25 years, Mr. Sears was a sales representative for Gates City Steel, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Guttenberg, past patron of Pearl Chapter No. 143, O.E.S., Guttenberg, past master of Trojan Lodge No. 548, A.F. & A.M., Marion, and was state secretary of High Twelve Club of Iowa for 13 years.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nancy Zwanziger of Arvada, Colo.; {private}; four granddaughters; and three great-granddaughters.
Services: 1:30 Monday, the Murdoch Chapel, Marion, by the Rev. Jim Rozendaal of the United Methodist Church, Guttenberg. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion....
