Leslie M. Phelps, 86, of 992 Eighth street, a resident of Marion for the past 80 years, died Tuesday in a Cedar Rapids hospital.
Born Feb. 7, 1885, at Token Creek, Wis., he was married to Grace Starbuck June 1, 1912, at Marion. Mr Phelps graduated from Marion high school in 1901, and was a telegraph operator with the Milwaukee railroad from 1902 to 1909. He was a railway mail clerk from 1910 until his retirement in 1945. He was a member of the National Assn. of Retired Federal Employees.
Surviving is his wife.
Services: Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Murdoch chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Lloyd Kellams. Burial: Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may if they wish, contribute to the heart fund as a memorial.
