Death of J.E. Franz.
About 8 o'clock last evening J.E. Franz passed away at his home 761 Seventh avenue in the presence of his family, his daughters who reside in Anamosa and Cedar Rapids having been called home. Mr. Franz has been in business here for years and has been a prominent member of Robert Mitchell post G.A.R. and the M.E. church in this city and will leave many friends who extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved wife and children. Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon. Interment in Oakshade [sic] where the service will be conducted by Robert Mitchell post, G.A.R. Friends desiring to view the remains can have an opportunity from 10 to 2 o'clock Wednesday.
