Mrs. Walter Hewitt, 83, of 586 Ninth avenue, Marion, died Thursday at 1:40 a.m. in a Cedar Rapids hospital following a long illness.
Born Charlotte Evalena Richardson near Iowa City Jan. 10, 1869, she was married to Mr. Hewitt in 1888 at Rockford, Ill. Mrs. Hewitt had lived in this vicinity the last 35 years.
Surviving in addition to her husband, are a son, Ralph M. Hewitt, Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Mrs. Henry N. Miller, Marion, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Yocom-Murdoch chapel by the Rev. Richard Goins. Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
