Harley F. McCalley, a life-long resident of this community, died Friday morning, May 14, at 7:05 o'clock, following a long illness.
Mr. McCalley was born in Marion township on March 3, 1874, the son of George W. and ALice Templan McCalley, and made farming his vocation until moving to the family home, 928 Eleventh street, in 1941.
He was first married January 25, 1898, to Donna Belle Fullerton of Marion. She died February 12, 1909. His second marriage, on September 14, 1910, was to Mable Harris who survives.
There are three sons, Park L., of Cedar Rapids, and Hubert C. and Ray C. of Mairon; four grandchildren, Marvin, Richard, Donna and David McCalley, all of Marion, and a sister, Mrs. Olive Emmons, of Mairon, who also survives.
Mr. McCalley was a member of the Marion Methodist church, and of Osceola lodge, No. 18, I.O.O.F. of Marion.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from the Yocom chapel, with the Rev. A.W. Henke, pastor of the Methodist church, and the Rev. Vernon H. Carter, pastor of the Marion Christian church, in charge. Burial was made in Oak Shade cemetery.
