Ethel R. Lee, 78, 545 Central ave., Marion, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 at a Cedar Rapids hospital. She was born the daughter of Charles and Rose Page Thompson. On Oct. 23, 1906 she was married to Richard Lee. Mr. Lee passed away on Aug. 15, 1944 at Marion. Mrs. Lee was a former employee of the Marion Cleaners and Laundry. Her grandfather, the Rev. Warren Thompson was the founder of the Marion Free Methodist church.
Mrs. Lee was a member of the Marion Free Methodist church and the last charger member living of the Womens Missionary Society of the Free Methodist Church which was founded in Marion and the Linn County Old Settlers Association.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Kathryn) Bonebrake of Marion, six grandchildren, Rose Mary Sweeney, Thomas, Lee, Raymond, Rex, Richard and Sean Bonebrake; and three sister, Mrs. Thomas (Mildred) Hill of Arco, Idaho and Mrs. Clyde (Beatrice) Satterly of Cedar Rapids and Nellie Thompson of Marion. A son, Charles R. preceded her in death.
Services were 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17 at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion conducted by the Rev. Howard Harris and Rev. Ronald Miers. Interment was in Oak Shade.
