Longtime Marion Resident Dies In CR Saturday
Mrs Mabel Frances Conger, 72, 1155 12th st., passed away at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at a Codar Rapids hospital following a short illness.
She was born Frances Liddle on September 14, 1881 at Freeport, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Sarah Speh Liddle. She came to Marion as a child and was educated in the Marion schools. She was married here on June 1903 to Harry W. Conger and in 1907 they moved to Mabridge, S.D., where Mr. Conger was a locomotive engineer with the Milwaukee Road. Mr. Conger passed away at Mobridge on March 17, 1942. Mrs. Conger returned to Marion to live a year later and has resided here since that time. Mrs. Conger was a member of the Marion Methodist Marion Chapter No. 183, O.E.S and of the Milwaukee Women's club.
She is survived by a daughter, Helen, with whom she made her home and by a brother, Fred Liddle of Marion. A son, Charles, died in infancy and two sisters and a brother preceded her in death. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A niece, Mrs. Barbara Elizabeth Starrett of Houston, Tex., was reared in her home. Memorial services were conducted at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Murdoch Funeral Home by the James P. Gable. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery.
