Helen L. Conger, 76, of 577 12th St. a long time resident of Marion, died at 5:25 a.m. Sunday, March 9 in a Cedar Rapids hospital following a sudden illness. She was born the daughter of Harry L. and Mabel Liddle Conger of Feb. 15, 1904 at Marion. Miss Conger was a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 28 years, until retiring in 1957. She was a member of the First United Methodist church; Marion Chapter 183, O.E.S.; and the Telephone Pioneers.
Surviving are cousins, including Mrs. Betty Conger Starrett of Colorado Springs, Colo., was raised in the Conger home, and Mrs. Ruth Domer and Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Smith, both of Marion. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion, conducted by the Rev. Glen W. Lamb. Interment was in Oak Shade cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
