LeRoy Blackledge, 75, a former Marion resident, died at 6:55 a.m. Tuesday at a Cedar Rapids nursing home following a long illness.
Born October 17, 1878, at Seymour, the son of Leander and Sarah DeNood Blackledge, he was married at Marion Dec. 14, 1903, to Miss Mary D. Geiger. Mrs. Blackledge died Nov. 25, 1932. For many years, Mr. Blackledge was ticket agent in Marion for the Milwaukee road. Following his retirement, he was employed at the Iowa Manufacturing Company until last October.
Mr. Blackledge was a member of the Marion Presbyterian church, a past master of Trojan lodge No. 548, A.F. & A.M., and a past high priest of Marion chapter No. 10, R.A.M. Surviving are a son, Harold J. Blackledge of Cedar Rapids, four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Murdoch funeral home by the Rev. Walter Cerka of Cedar Rapids. Masonic services will be conducted a the chapel by Trojan lodge. Interment will be in the Oak Shade cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel.
All master Masons are requested to meet at the lodge rooms at 1 p.m. to attend the services.
