Services for J. Alvan Beiber, 65, a lifelong resident of Marion and vicinity, who died in the University of Iowa hospital Tuesday night, will be held at the Yocom chapel Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. J.J. Snyder of Gilman officiating. A grandson, Thos. Dochterman will sing.
Born December 22, 1882, in Marion, he was the son of Jacob and Carrie May Humphrey Beiber. He married Christine Nielson at Marion on December 16, 1905. She died here three years ago.
He is survived by a son, Willard, of Marion, and three daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Dochterman of Marion, Mrs. Gladys Brown of Providence, R.I., and Mrs. Virginia Price of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, Claude and Wesley, both of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Mrs. Lulu Straka and Mrs. Bernice Kinkead, both of Marion, and Mrs. Mable Wightman of Cedar Rapids. A daughter, Luetta, died in 1912.
Burial will be in Oak Shade cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews, Marvin and Marion Kinkead, Paul and Robert Beiber, LeRoy Hewitt and Jack Collins.
