The death of B.C. Kimball, after a long illness occurred last Thursday, Dec. 6, at his late home in Marion. The funeral was conducted Saturday afternoon at the M.E. church, the pastor, Dr. Sanderson, officiating, who read the following sketch of the life of the deceased:
Benjamin C. Kimball was born in Franklin County, Ohio, Feb. 10, 1837, residing there until 1854, when with his brother, David, went by the Isthmus of Panama-route to California. He came back to Louden, Iowa, in 1860, living there until 1876, then moving to Oxford Junction where he resided until four years ago, when he moved to Marion. In 1864 he was united in marriage to Julia A. Bennett, of Louden, Iowa, daughter of V.A. Bennett, attorney, to which union four children were born, John C. of Springville, Ia.; Mrs. V.O. Hammond, of St. Louis, Mo.; C.O. Kimball of Oxford Junction, Ia.; and Mrs. J.H. Dignan, of Marion. He leaves to mourn his death, besides his wife and children, nine grandchildren, three brothers and one sister.
Mr. Kimball was an honest, upright man and made friends wherever he lived. He was a patient sufferer for the last year and at his death he was radiantly happy.
